Every year, the Day of the Canary Islands on 30 May is an opportunity to reflect on our roots and the natural treasures of our archipelago. Here, sustainability isn’t just an ideal, but a practice at the heart of Canarian culture.
At Atlantia, we’re committed to honouring this tradition by adopting environmentally friendly practices and using 100% pure organic Canarian Aloe Vera in all our products. Read on to discover how our efforts towards sustainability are in perfect harmony with the essence of the islands.
Sustainability at Atlantia
At Atlantia, we understand that sustainable practices are essential to protect the natural environment and preserve the quality of life on our islands and beyond. This is reflected in every step we take. How so? Read on, and we’ll tell you:
Sustainable Processes and Technologies
We’ve optimised our production systems to be more sustainable, constantly improving them over the last six years. Our main raw material, pure Aloe Vera, comes exclusively from certified organic farms in the Canary Islands, guaranteeing a local supply and reducing our environmental impact.
What’s more, the waste generated by processing our Aloe Vera is used to produce compost, in line with the principles of the circular economy.
Less Plastics, Less Waste, More Sustainability
In terms of packaging, we’ve drastically reduced our use of plastic, replacing it with glass containers and wooden lids, and most of the remaining plastic with 100% recycled (and recyclable) plastic.
We’ve also removed the unit cardboard boxes from some products, and in other cases, we’ve replaced the standard cardboard boxes with ones sourced from certified sustainable forests or made from sugar cane waste products.
Local and Global Commitment
Our vision of sustainability extends to ethical resource management and we work hand in hand with local suppliers to ensure a supply chain that respects both people and the planet.
At a corporate level, we have a 100% electric fleet, and the energy we use at our factory, warehouse and offices is 100% renewable. What’s more, we’re meticulous about cleaning our production machinery, only using certified organic products.
Every detail counts for us, and we’ve recently been awarded the EFR Certificate as a Family-Responsible Company. What does this mean for Atlantia? This seal symbolises our commitment to stable, inclusive contracts; fair, non-discriminatory wages; work-life balance, and ethical and social responsibility.
Community and Environmental Impact
These practices not only benefit the environment but also strengthen our community. By reducing waste and optimising resources, we’re contributing to a healthier ecosystem, vital for preserving our unique biodiversity in the Canary Islands.
This approach allows us to meet our sustainability goals and build a stronger, more positive relationship with the Canarian community, which sees Atlantia as an ally in preserving its natural and cultural heritage.
"These actions are just the beginning of our journey towards the fully sustainable and environmentally friendly operation we strive for. At Atlantia, we believe true progress is achieved without compromising the needs of future Canarian generations and, by extension, all humankind.”
Benefits of Pure Canarian Aloe Vera
Known for its healing and soothing properties, Aloe Vera is an essential part of Atlantia products. Grown in the fertile volcanic soil of the Canary Islands, this ingredient not only captures the essence of our land but also offers multiple benefits for both health and skincare.
Want to know more? This is how pure Canarian Aloe Vera enriches each of our cosmetics and promotes your well-being:
How Aloe Vera Benefits the Skin
- Deep Hydration: Aloe Vera contains components such as lignin, which improves water penetration in the skin, providing deeper and longer-lasting hydration.
- Cell Regeneration: Rich in vitamins A, C and E, Aloe Vera has antioxidant properties that help repair sun damage and accelerate new skin cell regeneration.
- Smoothness and Elasticity: The mucopolysaccharides in Aloe Vera help keep the skin soft and supple, improving its texture with each application.
Additional Health Benefits
- Natural Anti-inflammatory: Aloe Vera gel is a natural anti-inflammatory, ideal for soothing burns, insect bites, itching and other skin conditions.
- Improves Digestion: Since Aloe Vera can help improve digestion and relieve conditions such as acidity or constipation when taken in the right doses, we highly recommend our Bialoe drink with pure natural Aloe Vera juice.
Importance of Canarian Origin
Canarian Aloe Vera isn’t just a question of geography; it’s a seal of quality and purity that must be recognised. The unique weather conditions of the Canary Islands guarantee Aloe Vera of the highest potency in terms of active nutrients.
Since our pure Aloe Vera comes from 100% organic farming, we’ve been awarded the CRAE Organic Farming Certification seal. This results in more effective and noticeable benefits for both the skin and body at an aesthetic and health level:
- Assured Purity: The islands’ ideal climate and volcanic soil ensure pollutant-free farming, which means a purer, more effective Aloe Vera.
- High Potency: Canarian plants have particularly high levels of acemannan, a key component of Aloe Vera that enhances its beneficial effects.
This combination of factors makes Canarian Aloe Vera a star ingredient in our products. By choosing Atlantia, you’re not only choosing self-care with all the benefits of the natural treasures of the Canary Islands, but you’re also supporting sustainable organic farming that respects and celebrates the archipelago’s natural heritage.
Canary Islands: Land of Beauty and Tradition
The Canary Islands, a volcanic archipelago in the Atlantic, are a place of extreme beauty and rich diversity. With their subtropical climate and landscapes ranging from dense forests to arid deserts, these islands are a paradise for their inhabitants and visitors alike. Culturally, the Canaries are a melting pot of traditions influenced by their strategic geographical position.
Furthermore, the biodiversity of the Canaries is undeniable, with many endemic species of flora and fauna. Some areas of the islands have been declared UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, recognising their immense natural value and the importance of preserving their unique environment. This commitment to conservation reflects the values we celebrate on 30 May, the Day of the Canary Islands, where we highlight sustainability and the importance of protecting our natural resources.

At Atlantia, sustainability isn’t just part of our corporate strategy; it’s at the heart of everything we do. We deeply value pure, ethically sourced Canarian Aloe Vera for its efficacy, reflecting our commitment to quality and respect for nature.
We’re also proud to have renewed our ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System by AENOR, which underlines our dedication to responsible environmental management.
Furthermore, we believe recent legislation is essential to progress towards sustainability. In addition to encouraging us to maintain our responsible practices, it reinforces customer trust in purchase criteria, helping them make better choices and feel more protected against fraudulent or misleading advertising and greenwashing.
